The Favela of Santa Marta is a local experience will make you look Brazil with another point of view. After meeting, when you arrive at Favela Santa Marta your local guide will introduce you to the resident guide who will take you around the small streets and you will be able to see the harsh reality of Rio’s favelas, as well learning a bit about its history and traditions. During the waking tour you will meet the locals and gain insight into the challenges these communities face and learn how even through such difficulties the people of the favela are able to smile and welcome visitors. You will see local social projects including a privilege view of Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf Mountain and Rodrigo de Freitas Lake. Also a lot of colorful houses considered a great postcard view. Since 2008, the Favela Santa Marta was occupied by military police and turned the Rio's first favela model with new atmosphere, result of the peace project. Santa Marta have been visited by many stars such as: Madonna, Michael Jackson and Vin Diesel. Today Santa Marta welcomes tourists with open arms and is proud to have people from all over the world visit this charming and colorful slum.
